Fiestaware anyone?

The first of many events planned for Tosa's wedding happened on Saturday out in Peoria, IL. A nice relaxing 3 hour drive through the cornfields of the Midwest brought me back to my second family. You see, Tosa and I met back in Canada when we started high school. I don't quite remember how we met, but I do know we've endured a lot together over the years. From psycho boyfriends (mine) to permanent PMS sisters (both of us), we grew to become very good friends. We survived calculus with our quest to do better than the other and the distance by annual visits, highlighted by her Mom's need to discuss her sex life with me. I understand completely how she was traumatized by her mother and 'too much information' has become our mantra when Mom starts talking, followed by 'la la la la la' while covering our ears. Don't get me wrong, I love her Mom, she just doesn't understand that there are some things that are not meant to be shared.

So seeing Tosa at her bridal shower was special for me. She was not very enthusiastic about having the party and was a little afraid of how her sister would torture her, but it was nice to see her surrounded by her family and friends, celebrating her future with Harley. It still amazes me that she will be getting married in two short months - I still think of us as teenagers, not adults - but I know she is ready for this. She was always very selective about who she would date and always came across as the good girl, but even though I wasn't there to witness her devilish behaviour out of high school, I have heard some stories. And now those wild days are officially about to end. She'll be getting married and I'm sure she'll be popping out kids soon after. She has a great future ahead of her and Harley is a very lucky man - Tosa is the best!
