I'm back

But I wish I was anywhere else right now. I've been up for over 22 hours now and it will probably be 25 by the time I crawl into bed (if I'm lucky). Today has been a bad day right from the start. It started with my annual trip to the airport to renew my work visa.

Mom was nice enough to get up early and drive me to the airport so that I would be there by 5am, which gave me 1 1/2 hours to get my visa taken care of and hop on the plane back to Chicago. Well, this is where things go down hill. It takes a good 20 minutes just to get to the front of the Customs line to talk to the initial INS guy. He was very nice and directed me to the waiting area where I patiently waited my turn for processing. Patiently only lasts so long though. After about 25 minutes, I was getting nervous. They hadn't even looked at my file yet. I still had it in my hands. And there were still a few guys ahead of me they needed to talk with first. It was not looking good, especially since some of the guys were being given a hard time about their qualifications. It was time to officially start worrying. Another 5 minutes passed and then a women comes out asking for my files and she proceeds to head into an office without me. I'm okay with this only because it usually means she'll look over the file and start doing whatever she needs to do without asking me a lot of questions. But she takes forever! It was another 10 minutes before she called me into the office. And then I needed to pay and they wouldn't take cash and then I still had to get through the security line -- only to find out that my flight has already left for Chicago. Without me. I was not happy, but at least I didn't have to buy a new ticket, they just put me on the next plane. Could my day get any worse?

You better believe it! My seat was at the very back of the plane, we left an hour late and had to circle over Madison, WI for about 20 minutes before we could land. I was so tired and extremely late for work. It was bad enough that they were pissed I had to be out of town this weekend, but now I was late too. And now, here I am, still at my desk waiting for our testing process to complete. Oh I forgot to mention, the only thing I was responsible for finishing tonight won't work properly and I don't know why. So I'll have another long day tomorrow.

Someone please kill me now!
