Ouch!

I had a little problem Saturday. Actually, I had a few problems. The day started off well and I was able to get a lot accomplished in the morning but then I went to tennis. I have been looking forward to my class for a long time since I had missed the last couple of weeks because of being in NYC so I was long overdue for a workout. I was excited. I was energized. I was hurt in the first 2 minutes of class. I'm still not sure exactly what happened but I still feel the pain. At some point I must have tweaked something in my lower back so certain moves would cause pain. I fought through it and continued playing for the full 2 hours and didn't think it was too bad - at least until I sat down in my car and screamed from the pain. When I was playing I knew I had a problem but didn't think it was too bad. By the time I got home, sitting was painful, walking upright was not easy and even lying down was uncomfortable. Not fun! So I took as many pain killers as I could and settled in for the night. Plans to go out with K were scrapped and I was not very happy about it.

A few hours later, I decided I should make some dinner and headed into the kitchen. My steak had been marinating for about an hour and I just needed to make my salad. Easy, right? Wrong! I was a complete klutz and managed to slice my finger open on the very last piece of red pepper that needed to be added. I was seconds away from putting down the knife and eating my dinner but instead I was in a panic about stopping the bleeding. It didn't help that I had sharpened my knives the last time I used them so it was extra sharp and went that much deeper. There was no pain for this incident, but the blood was unbelievable! I don't remember any other injury that has caused so much bleeding. Bleeding that wouldn't stop for hours! The cut wasn't big enough to get stitches so I just covered it in gauze and tape and kept it high above my heart to try to get it to stop gushing. As of today, I haven't yet looked to see the state of the finger but I think it's probably stopped bleeding by now, and if not, I have no idea what to do about it except wrap it like I have been doing.

So today is all about staying safe, staying away from knives and getting that massage to fix my back. After the massage, I'll be going to a movie with Catepillar which should be great and I'm really looking forward to getting out of this place for a while.
