Installment 2 - A little celebration

I'm back from the dead - sort of. I've been so busy at work lately that I haven't had time to think about writing let alone actually typing something up. Today I've decided that I couldn't wait any longer. It's been way, way too long since I've written anything and there are still so many stories to tell. We're halfway through March and I haven't told you about my weekend in Arizona, my birthday adventures, Tosa & Aussie visiting, being texted by a guy from Phoenix, the Boston hockey team, the Red Wings game, shopping at Ikea or anything else that's happened this month. There is so much to tell and I'm afraid it will end up being less exciting now because to include everything, I'll have to make the stories shorter than they really should be, which is very sad.

First, I want to start off by saying I have the most amazing friends that a girl could ever have. You girls rock!! Tosa, Spitfire, CG, Violet, FC2, Cat, and a few others made a point of celebrating my birthday with me, either before, on or after the actual day. They all made me feel very special and I loved every minute of it. Thank you and I love you all!! CG, thanks for not posting those pictures on the internet...you didn't post them did you?? I think what amazes me more than anything is that FC2 and I met only a short time ago and have managed to become good friends very easily. She is supportive and caring, and so much fun to go out with that it feels like we've known each other forever. And to think I was actually considering bailing on the night we met - that would've been a big mistake!

My birthday was spent in Arizona again this year with CG & Spitfire, and Spitfire's friend E. It was 4 days of sunshine, warmth, baseball, boys and booze. I was in heaven! We got a great deal on a hotel for the weekend which was walking distance to one of the ballparks and some of the night life too. On the Saturday after the ballgame, we ended up going to Dos Gringos for a few beverages where we met up with E's friends/coworkers. One of the guys, D, was celebrating his birthday so he and I became buds pretty quickly and did a couple of shots together to bond over our getting older. He was sweet and I made sure to invite him with us later in the evening to keep the party going. As always, I can't seem to just be friends with a guy. They always want more from me. I just wanted to have fun and he was a good guy so I chatted with him and before I knew it he was like a puppy dog at my feet. And now he tries texting me this past weekend to talk...at 11pm on Friday - and again - on Saturday night. It was all a little weird.

Sunday was the best day for adventures. I woke up early - like I always do after drinking - I think it was 7:30am this time. It was a beautiful morning and it started out with text messages and calls from friends and family wishing me a happy birthday. CG is a late riser so I watched a little tv before heading out to Starbucks while she was getting ready. Later in the morning we headed down to Mesa for another Cubs game, where I ended up being very quiet, reflective and observant of everything around me. It wasn't a bad thing, it was exactly what I needed that day and in the end, I liked what I learned. After the game, we headed home for a nap so that I could be awake for the festivities. Waking up before 8am every day sucks when you only get home after 2am. So to celebrate, we went for dinner at Don & Charlie's, followed by a few drinks at The Drift. And this is where things got interesting. The girls decided to announce to the nearly empty bar that it was my birthday. We ordered shots. We drank and before I knew it, there was a boy from across the bar giving me a lap dance...and lifting me into the air...and giving me his phone number. Turns out it was his off night and he was a bartender there. He invited us back to 6 with his friends for 'table service' where there would be free drinks for us. We decided to stay put for a while, since I was getting free drinks from other patrons as well, and maybe we'd show up later. Eventually we made the trek down the street and pretty much as soon as we entered the club there he was. I said hello and he took my hand and we headed back to his table to meet his friends. It turned out that they were pretty much done for the night so I decided to head to the dance floor. I don't remember the last time I had so much fun and met so many different people. There were guys everywhere and I wasn't being my usual shy self. I felt free and alive, taking full advantage of it being my birthday, I did not pay for a thing that evening, until after midnight where I forced CG to let me buy her a drink. Looking back, I'd have to say that it was probably the best birthday I've had in a very, very long time.
